Let Me Introduce Myself!!

Welcome to Versatile Vogue!!

My name is Melissa Martin and I am wanting to inspire women everywhere to get out of their comfort zone with their jewelry and their spare time!
I know what you're thinking - what spare time!! Well that's part of this whole picture too!
Maybe you deserve some spare time!
Maybe you deserve 8 hours of sleep at night!
Maybe you deserve to not feel completely overwhelmed and worn out on someone else's watch!
We'll get to all this very soon!

If you are looking for a little something extra to do that is super fun and could possibly take the place of your current form of employment (like it did for me) read on!!
If you are just looking for some cute combinations of funky, fashionable jewelry to wear and mix and  match with stuff you already have at a very reasonable price- read on!!

First things first, a little bit about myself and how this all got started in my life.

Here I am with my saint of a boyfriend BEFORE my teaching career began.

I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I graduated from college with a History Education degree and taught for 4 years at a high school in Oklahoma.
Every year I said to myself - "Well, next year will be better because......"
Yes, this was happening every year!
I was coaching three sports, helping sponsor Student Council, and teaching.
All the other teachers around me were just as stressed as I was.
They went straight into their classrooms in the morning and went home at the end of the day.
I know that this isn't the way every school is but this is just an example of what my daily grind was like.
My boyfriend was always wanting to go out and have dinner or go out to a movie. If it was a school night - I automatically said no. I was becoming crabby and cranky every single day.
Then summer would come. SWEET SUMMER!
I loved it! I worked in my yard,  I cooked dinner and tried new recipes. My house was actually clean. My boyfriend and I got caught up on movies and went out for lovely evenings.
Then July rolled around. It seemed like the summer months just flew by. Suddenly I was dreading all the commitments and meetings that would soon consume every day of my week.
That was how every year was.

Here is the best part of my story.

I made friends with the wife of the head basketball coach who I worked with. We had the best time together!
One day at her house I noticed a cute catalog sitting on her coffee table.
Here is the cover I saw.

I asked her about it.  She said that she signed up with the company and sold the jewelry in the catalog. She said she could get me anything I wanted in the catalog for 50% off.

I couldn't believe it. "What do you mean 50%?" I asked.
"That's my commission. So I give my good friend that discount!" she responded.
Unbelievable! I was interested automatically.
I asked her what I had to do to sign up and I got started.
I signed up for FREE! I simply passed around the catalog and asked my friends to look through and shop. I sold enough to sign up which was only $500. (That might sound like a lot - but it goes so fast!)
I really just wanted my own jewelry for 50% off.

Soon my mom was looking at the catalog and was super interested.
We signed her up.
Then a couple of my other friends were interested.
I signed them up.

Ok, so now I am getting checks in the mail from Cookie Lee and I have no idea what is happening.
The girl who signed me up just purchased stuff for herself and her friends.
So at this point, I'm just kind of coasting with the company. Just ordering the stuff I want when I want it and not really actively pursuing the business.
My boyfriend at this point wants to take me to Vegas over the summer.
I read in my email that the company is having their annual convention in Vegas that same week we are going to be there!
So I decide to stop by.
Best decision I ever made!
I don't know what I was expecting - but definitely not what I experienced!
Thousands of women in this convention room. Everyone was screaming and cheering. Everyone was wearing TONS of jewelry too.
I learned so much! I ended up going to as many break out sessions as I could and taking as many notes as I could fit on my hotel sationary!

One of the most impactful things that happened was that Cookie Lee herself and her husband John Lin got up on stage and spoke to everyone. She's on Youtube and very involved with her business. She is not just a name. She is the chief designer and is super fabulous! Here she is with her husband

I left Vegas with a totally different view of my business.
I promptly started making the Cookie Lee website my go to when I got bored. I would come home from  school and spend most weekends reading and reading and emailing questions to my uplines who I met in Vegas.

I also was teaching Economics at this time and was reading the most amazing book ever that completely changed my life. The book is called Rich Dad Poor Dad and it's by author Robert Kiyosaki. It's very controversal, but for those of you with an open mind and like trying new things and thinking outside the box - this could completely change your life!
Here is what the book looks like - It's a very easy read and trust me totally worth your time!

Ok on with my company!

I started recruiting more people and increasing my sales and then I got a brilliant idea one night with my boyfriend sitting on my front porch.
I'll never forget it.
I was just talking about the company and then I started telling him about one of my training videos mentioning fundraising.
Well, I was coaching basketball, softball, and golf. I knew a lot of coaches and programs that were definitely in need of some money. So I launched my first fundraiser.
Of course there were a lot of glitches that I had to work out, but now I have them worked out. I have done over 15 now and they are incredibly successful. This catapulted my business into a whole new level!(I will be taking you through one of these fundraisers in the future.)

Now I have quit my teaching and coaching job and I do fundraisers and Expos and home shows full time!

Ok, now that my story is over - let's talk about the jewelry!
It is SO FABULOUS!
If you haven't checked it out yet - go to my website right now and open that catalog!
www.cookielee.biz/melissamartin2
Notice the pieces that can be worn more than one way! Yeah - so fun!
I can't wait to show you all my jewelry tips and tricks.

Let me tell you a little bit about this amazing company!

Cookie Lee is a direct selling jewlery company that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year!
Cookie is known for designing her pieces so they can be worn more than one way. This gives you a better value for your purchase!
I'll be telling you all about the company as we go, but first just a quick overview of the most important stuff!!

-I signed up with Cookie Lee for FREE! ( you already heard about this earlier)

-(I simply hosted a catalog show and sold pieces from the catalog to my friends and
family and used those orders to sign me up.)

-I make 50% off every purchase.

  -I NEVER do a formal presentation. If I do a trunk/home/office/any kind of show I don't have
a presentation. I just talk about the jewelry and answer everyone's questions.

-People can take what they purchase right off the table.

-New catalog comes out every 6 months! That's right every 6 months - brand new jewelry! It's
so much fun. The styles stay fresh and up to date. Your customers can never get bored -
there is always something new to look at!

-I have no territories and NO MONTHLY QUOTAS! I just have to sell $300 a YEAR to stay a
consultant. Which I easily spend on Christmas presents and just pieces for myself!

That's it - the most important things about this company that people want to know first thing.

The next new catalog comes out in January of 2013. I am going to do my best to get through the most interesting pages of this Fall/Winter 2012 catalog before the new one comes out.

In the time being - do two things.
1. Write down 5 things you would do in a week if you were done with your job and
     commitments at 12 noon.
2. Get out all your jewelry and lay it out in a spare bedroom or any area. We are going to get you
wearing stuff you haven't worn in FOREVER! We are going to mix and match items. Inspire
you to wear combos that you maybe never thought about.

My grandma used to say - "Never leave the house looking half beautiful."

It might be easier than you think - frost yourself! Take a little pride in your look! You might be surprised how much better you feel about yourself AND everyone and everything around you!
Bye for now!
Melissa
